Welcome to the Official Website of the Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music and Sambalikhaan Foundation

The celebration revolved around the theme, AILM@30: The Visions Continues. It opened formally with a parade of students and the Trinity of Asia Band, which also gave a special concert in the afternoon. This was followed by a Special Liturgy which was then following by a concert by the UP Guitar orchestra under the baton of Professor Lester Demetillo, former faculty member of AILM. The orchestra performed mainly Western compositions for guitar ensembles. On September 27, AILM welcomed the Alumni who have come to revisit the Institute and meet with the current students. It was a time for reminiscing the past as well as updating on the whereabouts of those who have passed the portals of the Institute over the years. Current students were greatly impressed at the milestones achieved by graduates of AILM, both academically, as well as in their current ministries and other involvements in the realm of Church Music. On the evening of the same day, the Chamber Choir of Asia regaled the students and guests with their concert where they performed Sacred Songs and Asian folk songs under the direction of Professor Jonathan Velasco, a former faculty member of AILM, and John Pamintuan.
On September 28, the continuation of the Alumni Homecoming activities were held. In the evening, the Novo Concertante Manila, a choir directed by Professor Arwin Tan who teaches Music Theory, Piano and School Choir at the Institute, gave a full concert featuring Sacred songs and Asian Madrigals. The Coro Cantabile, a choir directed by Ms. Sharon Abesamis who also directs the AILM Chorale, regaled the students with their own rendition of selected spirituals and Filipino original compositions the next evening. The culminating activity of this celebration was the holding of the Solemn Pontifical Mass with procession in the afternoon of September 30, with the Prime Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the Philippines, Most Rev. Edward P. Malecdan, presiding, and the Rev. Fr. Rex. B. Reyes, Jr., General-Secretary of the National Council of Churches in the Philippines as preacher. A full concert, featuring the AILM Chorale, was held after the dinner-reception.
